privacy on the internet?

Okay, another major provider has done something failworthy. AIM is now logging people's status updates and displaying them twitter-style.

And by default, it's PUBLIC. Go here to turn it off:

Argh. It also shows things like last-friended-by which is annoying as AIM hasn't done that -- you could add people and not feel like a stalker or that you needed to ask permission or whatever.
